Yahoo Co-founder Jerry Yang resigns from his Co-founded company, Yahoo Inc. After the ups and downs of Yahoo for the past 17 years. Jerry Yang decided to stop his career on Yahoo Inc., international news sites reported on Wednesday, January 18, 2012.

According to the reports, Mr. Jerry Yang said last Tuesday that he will be resigning from the Yahoo’s board. He will also leave the boards of Yahoo Japan Corp. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., Asian Web companies that Yahoo partly owns.

Yahoo Inc. is having a hard time in competing with Google Inc. and Facebook Inc. for online users and advertising dollars. Yahoo Inc. considered selling its stakes in its Asian partners, including Alibaba.

After hours trading on Tuesday, Yahoo’s stocks soared 4% on the news.

BGC Partners analyst Colin Gillis said, “What the market is telling you is that Jerry stepping down removes an obstacle to unlocking some of Yahoo’s value,”

Jerry Yang and David Filo created Yahoo while graduate students at Stanford University. They co-founded the company in 1995.
