I told in my last post that I will give some factors that affect site speed.
There are many reasons that affect the loading speed of a site or a blog. Optimizing this factors will help improve your site speed that results to pleasing the Big G.
I will not give all the factors that affect the site speed. I will only give the main factors that I know that came from my research and from the advices of SEO practioners I know.
Here is the Factors that affect the loading speed of a site or a blog.
- Images. Putting large scale of pictures will surely slow downs your site or blog. Sites or blogs that have so many large size images in their blog is slow compared to a no image site or blog.
Tip: Use Jpeg image type rather than Png and Bmp. Jpeg images is compressed with its quality. Jpeg is now compatible with many sites or blogging platform. Try to minimize the size of the image. Crop unnecessary scenes as possible.Resize images if possible.
- Widgets. This is self explanatory. Having to many widgets will surely slow down your site and blog. Minimize the use of it. I don’t think you need all of that widgets, do you?
- Plugins. Like widgets. Too many plugins installed. Slow site or blog. Choose wisely. There is some Plugins that came with a package. Packaged plugins are compressed than individual plugins.
- Site or Blog Theme, Template, Design. I think this is the number one factor that really and have the greatest effect on your site or blog regarding to speed. I recently have this experimentation with this blog and choosing different templates. I noticed that good looking templates(with colors) made my blog slow and even though I have some plugins that will speed up my blog. It is still slow. Then I choose my template now(simple) and my blog loads 50% faster than before.
Tip: Choosing the best and simplest template for your site will take a lot of work, because even though we you want to make your blog fast. You fast also consider the design and make the site or blog eye catching. Experiment with different themes and you will find themes that fits your need.
